Proposed Pilot Project
The Kun Valley Pilot
Kun Valley, Nebilyer Green Valley, Western Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea.
This is a proposed pilot project. The plans described here represent our vision and intended approach. We are currently seeking partners and support to make it a reality, in close consultation with the Kun Valley community.
The current situation
Life beyond the grid
Kun Valley is home to resilient, close-knit communities living in traditional houses among some of the most beautiful country in the world. But it lies far from mains electricity and dependable internet.
Without power, evenings are short and study is hard. Without connectivity, families are cut off from online learning, health information, markets and relatives in the cities. The talent and ambition are everywhere — the tools are not yet within reach.

The proposed project
A simple, sustainable plan
We propose a phased approach — starting small, proving the model, and building local ownership from day one.
Phase 1 · Solar Power
Install a community solar system to provide clean, reliable energy at a central village hub.
Phase 2 · Connectivity
Establish an internet connection at the hub, with shared access points the community can rely on.
Phase 3 · Local Ownership
Train local champions to maintain and manage the system, so it belongs to the village long term.

The long-term vision
From one valley to many
Kun Valley is the first step. If the pilot succeeds, we want to refine the model and carry it to villages across the highlands and beyond.
- A replicable, community-owned solar + internet model
- Digital skills and online learning for students
- Better access to health and market information
- A network of connected villages across Papua New Guinea
